How to create a CRA account
Option 1
Go on Canada.ca on the CRA my account login page and click on “CRA register”
Enter your social insurance number (SIN)
For identity verification, you will be asked to enter additional personal information such as your date of birth, postal code, and an amount from one of your recent tax returns from either this, or the previous year
You will then need to create a CRA user ID and password and choose security questions with corresponding answers
Once your CRA account is created, you will be mailed a CRA security code, which you will have to enter in order to have full control of your account, you will have to enter your CRA security code after logging in.
Option 2
Go on Canada.ca on the CRA my account login page and click on “Continue to Sign-In partner”
Select on one of the financial institutions which would most likely be your bank, and enter your log-in information
You will be asked to enter the same information as in option 1 (social insurance number, date of birth, postal code, and a tax return amount)
You will be mailed a CRA security code to be able to fully use your account
Login through Sign-In partner and enter your CRA security code when asked
